The Lady Eagles, coming off a win against Central Valley, had hopes of duplicating their success last Thursday as they traveled down to Orland, but were unable to.
"All 6 girls played great, the Orland girls just had a few more weapons. Autumn (Serota) really stood out, playing a great 3 set match, and playing the best tennis I've seen her play all year and in her career," said WVHS Girls Tennis Coach Tom Wyrick.
Serota had a close match against Rubie Flores of Orland, beating Flores in the first set 6-4, she played hard in the second set, but lost 5-7, and was unable to regain control of the match losing the third set 3-6.
"These girls are a fun group. Not as strong as some I've had in the past, but eager to learn and hard working. We only have two seniors in the top six, so a lot of improving to do in the next year or so to make a NAL title run," said Wyrick of his team. "Corning will be tough to beat this year."
The Eagles really shined against Orland at doubles, sweeping all three matches against Orland.
