My Fair Lady to be put on by Anderson Union and West Valley High Schools

In a joint venture, Anderson Union High School and West Valley High School will present a stage production of Lerner and Loewe's "My Fair Lady" in cooperation with Tams-Witmark Music Library, Inc.

"This year's fall musical is going to be breathtaking!" gushed Debbie Schlueter, production manager. "You will be transported back to an old London market and find yourself in the middle of a very exciting horse race. The costumes will rival any of our past musicals and the dancing will have you on your feet with applause," Schlueter said.

Five performances are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, Nov. 10, and continuing through Saturday, Nov. 14. A sixth performance, a 2 p.m. matinee, will also take place Saturday, Nov. 14.

All performances are staged in the Anderson Union High School Performing Arts Center, 1471 Ferry St., Anderson.

Tickets go on sale Monday, Oct. 19, and are priced at $10 for general admission or $8 for seniors (age 55 and older) as well as students with valid school ID.

Tickets may be purchased at Bernie's Guitar, 3086 Bechelli Lane in Redding; NCG 1-Stop Music Shop, 2303-A Balls Ferry Road, Anderson; Anderson Union High School District Office, 1469 Ferry St. during school hours, 7 a.m.-4 p.m.; and AUHS Performing Arts Center, 1471 Ferry St., Monday through Thursdays from 5 p.m.-7 p.m.

The Hollywood version of this musical swept the 1964 Academy Awards show including Oscars for Best Picture and George Cukor's direction.

"Don't miss seeing and experiencing this wonderful production!" Schlueter said.
