Happy Valley Pride: September 23, 2009

I love potlucks! Farm Trail met last night and our farmers cooked up food from their gardens. Nothing like fresh vegetables. There was spaghetti squash made with tomatoes and covered in cheese, two potato dishes, lots of fresh raw vegetables, homemade salsa, three salads, and on and on it goes. My compliments to the cooks.

We picked up a new member for next year's Farm Trail map and gave out information on planting through the year. We will have a web site and we are going to make up T-shirts that will have our map on it with the words 'Happy Valley Farm Trail' printed on the back. It will be Kelly green with white or black letters. To order yours call me at 357-2416. The price is $12.

Saturday, September 26, the Happy Valley PTA is having a "Run For Fun" fundraiser. Running? Meet at 7:30 a.m. at the Elementary School. Walkers meet at 8:30 a.m. Adult and children registration is $5; an adult must accompany children under 14 years of age. Pets, bikes, skateboards, scooters, etc. are not allowed. Baby strollers are ok. Registration forms are available at Bonney's Burger or at the Elementary School. Ribbons will be given out.

Lions Club is having a Happy Valley Chili Cook Off, Saturday, September 26, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Hawthorne Ave. Admission is $5 per person. Come enjoy chili, drinks and music. Cooks entry fee is $5. Call 378-2328 for more information.

Who says there is nothing to do in Happy Valley? Run or walk in the morning and eat chili in the evening! Thought for the week: I know there is a lot of people worried about what is happening in the United States, so here is something that may comfort you. "If my people humble themselves and pray and seek my presence and turn from their evil ways, I will hear them, pardon their sins and revive their lands." 2 Chronicles 7-14. I think our land needs reviving.
