Today's article is written as an apology to Hubert "Hoopie" Arnold.
Somehow I missed naming him along with members of the 1946 winning football team during the recent Anderson Union High School Centennial All-Class Reunion.
Over the years, Hoopie has contributed a number of articles for "Remember When."
He was captain of the Anderson football team and played in the backfield. Hoopie is probably best-remembered for a long-standing first on the Anderson Union High School football field. He once ran back a 90-yard play.
He was a very talented open field runner, a good receiver and a team player who is still well-remembered by his teammates - especially Vollie Bisnett.
Bisnett also reminded me that even though Bob Cotter was not listed on the team in the yearbook, he was the team's center. A very talented big man who could mow down the on-coming linemen.
Hoopie now resides in Ohio and over the years lost one of his legs. However, he stays in contact with friends in this area and has fond memories of his days when he lived here.
