WVHS swimming is 2-0 for the season

West Valley High School's swim team is comprised of 60 kids and last Wednesday the school held a swim meet with Redding Christian and U-Prep.

"We're now 2 and 0 in league competition for the season, both boys and girls," said West Valley Swimming Coach Marc Soares. "Maddie Winton broke a school record in leading the West Valley High School girls' swim team to a close victory over U-Prep. The (new) record (by Winston) finishing the 200 free in 2:05.02, which she won and she also won the 100 free."

West Valley finished with 255 points followed by U-Prep receiving 225, and the Redding Christian girls finished a distant third.

For West Valley, Taylor Serna won the 100 back while Kim Court was second in the 200 free and the 500 free. Caitlin Clark won the 200 I.M. and was second in the 100 breast.

For the West Valley boys Ryan Parke won the 200 and 500 free, and Brennon Shepard won the 50 free. Nate Espino won the 200 I.M. and the 100 free. Matt Bohlin won the 100 fly and was second in the 200 free. Steven Haslam took second in the 200 I.M. Kurt Sjoberg won the 100 breast and was second in the 100 free. Charlie McIntosh was second in the 50 free and the 500 free. Steven Jordan was second in the 100 fly while Forrest Fells was second in the 100 breast. James Williams won the 100 back.
