West Valley football Coach Greg Grandell had many things to celebrate after Friday's game, not only was it his birthday, but he finally won his seeming elusive 100th game.

The Eagles had a strong showing against the Orland Trojans, winning their first game of the season bringing their record to 1-3.

West Valley senior Tyler Stevenson came up with the ball after the Trojan's receiver dropped the ball during the kick return in the final seconds of the third quarter. The Eagles were able to kick a field goal before the half making the score 31-7.

"It feels good to get my 100th win. We did good tonight, but we still have a ways to go," said Grandell. "We make too many mistakes and we need to not get as many penalties."

According to Grandell senior Ronny Hampton is doing great as a first year quarterback, they still have some growing pains, but a good foundation to build upon."

"It felt good to be able to give Coach Grandell his 100th win, especially on his birthday," said senior Jael Uhi. "Winning tonight was awesome and it feels really good."
