After a quiet start to the year, New Tech staff is ready to shake things up for the students and parents alike.
Parents were invited to a Back to School Night on Sept. 9 to meet faculty and learn how to help students have a great experience at school both socially and educationally.
ANTHS hosted its first Lock-In this year on Friday, Sept. 11. During the Lock-In, students participated in such activities as a cakewalk, bowling, video games, board games, bowling, jamming on instruments and movie watching.
The Ducky Derby fundraiser is now in motion, giving students a way to help out their school. Eighty percent of the ticket sales are guaranteed to be returned to the school or ASB fund which will benefit the student activities such as dances and lock-ins. Students who sell at least one ticket are invited to a school barbeque and students who sell the most tickets will be rewarded with gift certificates and free admission to school events.
The Associated Student Body Executive Board elections were held in the last week of August and the results are in. Congratulations to Rebecca Flaig (Executive Officer), Bryan Barnes (Community Connections Coordinator), Josh Frese (Staff Relations Coordinator), Donnella Cardwell (Activities Director), and Hannah Cain (Culture Commissioner).
The new modular building has finally become Room 109 at ANTHS. The school gives thanks to Scott Miller and his crew for their hard work in the construction project, Marty Mofield and the City of Anderson for their help in pre-construction, permitting and the planning of the construction, and Wheelabrator Shasta Energy Company for their donation of $750 to ANTHS.
On Sept. 10, ANTHS held its first Advisory meeting. Students from all grade levels met in groups of twenty with a teacher advisor to make three to five specific goals for the year. The students will later be asked to present their goals and discuss how they came to reach them. The Cross Country team, coached by Mr. Carr, has begun practicing for their upcoming relays and running events.
