Happy Valley Pride: September 30, 2009

The tabulation is in, and Happy Valley Pride Day was a great success. Fifty tons of trash and 25 tons of metal and E-waste went out of our community. Thirteen miles of Happy Valley roadside were cleaned. Thirty people which included 8 children and one teenager looked for Easter eggs while picking up trash.

They turned them in and received prizes which were donated by the following businesses, The Buss, Discount Feed, Signman Signs, Manning's Tree Farm, M-T Nest, Happy Valley Nursery, Trenerry Berry Farm, Graphic Emporium, Anderson Valley Post and Wal-Mart.

One hundred bags of litter were picked up along with wood, metal and fencing. Michele VanErt won the $100.

The following businesses donated money, Northern Lights Energy, Bonney's Burgers, Happy Stop Market, Happy Valley Market, All Service Propane, Leonard Moty Supervisor, Half Price Plummer, Signman Signs & More, and Shasta Pizza Company, which went to the purchase of our lime green T-shirts.

Thirty T-shirts were given out. County Market donates barbecue chicken for our potluck and sweet rolls for our Pride Day Events. The Happy Valley Volunteer Citizens Patrol purchased a new Welcome Sign to replace the one, which was stolen from the corner of Cloverdale and Clear Creek Road. They also directed traffic for the free dump day. The Happy Valley Community Foundation let us have the use of the community hall. My deep felt thanks to all that made this a great community event.

The next Pride Day event will be our Christmas Party in December. More on that as it gets closer.

Thought for the week, Psalm 139, 14 "I give you thanks that I am fearfully, wonderfully made; wonderful are your works!"

God does not make trash. If you feel you are in a trash heap, turn to Him for He can make treasure out of junk. Love you all; recycle, volunteer and remember our country in your prayers.
