AMBER SCHERTZ

Amber Schertz was born and raised in Shasta County. After graduating from Shasta High School in 1997 she attended Shasta College, earning her Associate in Arts Degree in General Education.

After college, Schertz started working at Corral West in Anderson as a sales associate. She worked her way up to becoming the district manager for California, Nevada and Washington State which consisted of 11 stores. Schertz spent a year and a half in this position before returning to work at Corral West in Anderson. A few months later, Boot Barn bought out Corral West and Schertz is now the store manager and has 9 employees.

On a daily basis, Schertz works with receiving freight, printing bar codes, scheduling employees, merchandising and many other tasks her job requires to successfully run a business. Schertz spends approximately 45 hours each week working at Boot Barn and enjoys her time off going hunting and spending time outdoors with her husband.

Schertz hopes to have a long successful future with the company and enjoys the people that she works with. One of the things she enjoys the most about working at Boot Barn is that working with western wear and the people in the ranching community helps to preserve the western way of life.

In her free time, Schertz enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors enjoying the wild life.

My first job: The Youth Conservation Corps for the US Forest Service. I did this for fun.

In my spare time I: Go hunting.

My favorite book: Peter French, it is about a cattle tycoon and has a bit of local history in it.

My favorite movie: Lonesome Dove.

My favorite recording artist: Ian Tyson. It is older country and western music.

My dream car: A new truck every year!

My friends like me because: I always smile.

If stranded on a deserted island, I would want: A pocket knife.

The one thing in life I've learned is: To be positive.

The best advice my parents gave me: The best helping hand is at the end of your own arm.

My most irrational act: Nothing I want to admit.

My most valued material possession: Our house.

What I like best about the North State: The outdoors. Mountains, lakes and rivers.

My hero is: My mom.

My pet peeve is: Mean people.

My fantasy is: To take a world class animal with my bow and arrow.

If I could change one thing about myself, I would: Change my hair.

The one thing Shasta County needs most is: More industry.

The most enjoyable thing about life is: Being with people you love and that love you.
