AUHS to benefit from SHARE grant

Project SHARE offered by the Shasta County Office of Education, announced the funding of the High School SHARE program through a highly competitive grant offered by the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Evaluation in collaboration with Center for Evaluation and Research Effectiveness.

Preliminary funding for the project totals $430,000. The beneficiaries of this money would be Anderson Union High School, $250,000; Oasis Community School of Redding, $180,000; $45,000 to Family Literacy, and Student Access funding.

Services will primarily focus on credit recovery, preparation for the California High School Exit Exam, enrichment activities, and a variety of career-technical options. In addition to the base funding Family Literacy funding has been awarded for the purpose of advancing the academic skills of the entire family.

Programs provided by sub-contractors are the Anderson Teen Center who will to expand to five days a week, Youth Violence Prevention Council, Health Improvement Partnership who will provide activities to expand adult literacy with one program per quarter, and Girls Inc., of the Northern Sacramento Valley who will offer one program per quarter. Program staff will collaborate with school site administration and partnering agencies in preparation for services to commence this month.
