RIDING SUCKA PUNCH: Elliott Jacoby of Fredricksburg, Texas makes a successful ride on a bull named Sucka Punch, for 84 ponts and a chance to ride in the short go on September 24th at the Tehama District Fair, which featured the Enterprise Rent-A-Car tour for the Professional Bull Riders. In the short go, Jacoby was bucked off, but placed 7th over all for the night.
Thursday, September 24, the Tehama District Fair Grounds Rodeo Arena was packed with approximately 2,000 spectators watching and waiting for the Professional Bull Riders Enterprise Rent-A-Car Tour riders to come out and show their stuff. 40 bull riders with 40 of the best bulls.
In the first go round, 10 of the riders rode their bulls to the coveted eight second whistle. The highest score being given, an 89.5 by Mike White from DeKalb, Texas on a bull named "One Wise Willy." It was his first time back on a bull after a five month break to heal a broken leg. White placed third over all in the event.
On the local level, bull rider Keith Roquemore of Cottonwood placed fifth with his first ride on a bull named "Cool Cash" for 86 points. In the short go, Roquemore was bucked off a bull named "Orrigional Prankster," but placed 5th in the event.
Happy Valley's Billy Soksoda gave it the cowboy try but was overcome by the strength of a bull named "Knight Rider."
Seven year-old Hudson Spalti, the legendary "Cottonwood Kid," was out in the arena performing for the crowd during the Mutton Busting. Hudson has become a crowd favorite throughout the past year.
Over all standings for the night, were as follows: first place: Brian Herman, Victoria, Texas. Second place: Dusty Ephrom, Arcola, SK. Third place: Mike White, DeKlab, Texas. Fourth place: Ryan Brown, Temecula. Fifth place, Keith Roquemore, Cottonwood.
