A new face will be joining the West Valley High School campus. Ryan Johnson, 32, was recently named the new vice principal to the school.
According to Marrianne Fitzpatrick, the director of personnel and curriculum for the Anderson Union High School District, Johnson has been working as an interim administrator for the Shasta Union High School District.
"He was chosen because he has a strong background in instruction and a wide variety of experience working with all types of students," said Fitzpatrick. "Ryan clearly exemplified the District's mission that ‘all students will graduate college- or career-ready.' We are very excited to have Ryan as a member of our administrative team."
According to Johnson, he is from the north state and is a graduate of Trinity High School in Weaverville.
"I have previously served in the US Army," said Johnson. "(I) have worked several years in alternative education for the Shasta Union High School District and have served as an administrator at Foothill High School in Palo Cedro for the past two years."
Johnson said his roles at the high school will be divers and he is very excited about becoming a part of "the great culture that exists" at West Valley."Johnson said he starts Monday, Sept. 13.
