AUHSD to stop mailing report cards

In a letter to parents, the Anderson Union High School District announced that is will no longer be mailing out report cards and progress reports, instead they will be handed out to students. The letter written by Tim Azevedo, superintendent of AUHSD, said this change will lead to significant savings for the district.

According to Pat Allison, principal of Anderson New Technology High School, the district will save about $8,000 over the course of the school year, she added that she wasn't sure if that figure included the number of hours spent preparing the progress reports and report cards for mailing.

Allison said that the report cards were printed on a very expensive special paper, which had to be run through a special machine.

Now when students get their report card, she said a phone dialer or e-mail will notify parents and the date when report cards are expected to go home will be mentioned in the newsletter.
