Anderson man booked on warrants after allegedly striking girl with vehicle

Anderson Police Department officers and a CHP helicopter searched for Anderson resident Michael Yabarra, 23, after he allegedly struck a 15-year-old Anderson girl with his vehicle in the 3400 block of W. Center St. in Anderson before 2 p.m. on Monday. The girl suffered only minor injuries to her elbow when an open door to the vehicle Yabarra drove pinned her to another parked vehicle, according to APD Sergeant Bryan Van Dyke.

Window glass was broken in both the parked vehicle and the vehicle Yabarra drove, Van Dyke said, due to a physical family altercation.

Yabarra and an unidentified female were located on Fig Tree Lane and Yabarra was booked into Shasta County Jail on three prior misdemeanor warrants, Van Dyke said.

APD will pursue a complaint of child endangerment on Yabarra Van Dyke added.
