The West Valley girls basketball team came back from behind to beat Anderson. The Lady Cubs were leading going into the half by 10 points.
The Lady Eagles came back out onto the court for the third quarter, ready to make their come back. They played hard on defense and smart offense; Anderson was left struggling to find their footing.
After all was said in done West Valley won 62-44, dashing any chance the Lady Cubs had at a Northern Athletic League title. Corning, who is leading the NAL, lost last night in double overtime to Lassen reported by the Redding Record Searchlight. The Lady Cardinals loss would’ve helped Anderson (4-3 NAL) if they could’ve held on for the win.
Jaccea McGrew led the Eagles (4-3 NAL) in scoring with 14 points, Taylor Trabold and Paige Adkins both had 11 points.
West Valley 65, Anderson 46
While the Anderson girls hosted West Valley, the Eagles hosted the Anderson boys basketball team. In a game that started with strong play on both side, it wasn’t until the second half that West Valley started dominating the Cubs.
Casey Duenas was the top scorer for the Eagles with 21 points, Tyler Stevenson put up another 11 for West Valley (4-3 NAL).
For Anderson (1-6 NAL), Zach Rice had 15 points and Zach Guibergia had 11.
