Award nominations are due and tickets are on sale for the upcoming Anderson Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Dinner. The chamber's 33rd annual awards dinner will be hosted at Win-River Casino on March 27, 6-9 p.m. The dinner "honors Anderson's finest citizens," according to Debe Hopkins, the chamber interim manager, who added that nominations for the various awards are due this Friday, Feb. 19.
The chamber's various awards include Distinguished Service Award, awarded to a person who has sought the betterment of its citizens; Business of the Year, awarded to the business offering great service, merchandise, and customer service, as well as community involvement; Grace Bell Memorial Award, awarded to a woman in the community who exels in both business and community service; and Customer Service, awarded to the individual or business providing exemplary customer service on an ongoing basis.
Janet Applegarth-Yarbrough, the chamber president, and Ken Hill, Prime 11 Cinemas CEO, will emcee the event. Tickets cost $35. To inquire about tickets or to donate an item for baskets in the evening's drawing, contact Anderson Chamber of Commerce at 365-8095.
In other chamber news, booth sales have begun for the first Anderson Chamber of Commerce Business Expo scheduled for May 19, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m, at Lassen Hall in Shasta District Fair grounds, 1890 Briggs St. Beginning the day with the chamber's weekly "Greeters" meeting, the business expo will provide a variety of business-related lectures and discussions, Hopkins said.
Attendees to the expo can learn ways to do better business, Hopkins said, adding, "In this economic time, we need it."
A no-host bar mixer will follow the expo at 5 p.m. outside Lassen Hall.
Booth space at the event, sized ten-feet square, cost $100. Two spaces may be purchased by the same company for $150, Hopkins added.
