The Eagles traveled to Susanville to take on the Grizzlies, and after a close first quarter, Lassen managed to pull away by seven points going into the half.
Then the Grizzlies got on a hot streak, at one point leading the Lady Eagles by 14 points before West Valley started to cut their lead down.
In the end, the Lady Eagles were unable to come from behind and win, losing to the Grizzlies 51-46.
Paige Adkins scored 13 points for West Valley (4-4 NAL, 8-15). West Valley will traveled to Yreka on Tuesday and will travel travel to Corning Friday night to take on the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m.
Central Valley 50, Anderson 38
The Anderson girls basketball team traveled to Central Valley to take on the Falcons, but instead of dominating, they struggled with rebounding and free throws most of the evening.
The Lady Cubs started strong, even leading the game early on, but then things just seemed to shift downward for Anderson and they were unable to step it up in the second half, where as Central Valley carried over their momentum from the first half.
The Cubs did start making a come back late in the game, but were never quiet able to shut down the Lady Falcons like they needed to, leading to a Central Valley win.
While Corning may have the top spot in the Northern Athletic League, these last few games will help decide playoff position.
Emily English had 19 points for Big Blue, while teammate Megan Leitem added eight points. Anderson (4-4 NAL, 13-11) traveled to Lassen on Tuesday and will host Yreka on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Boys Basketball
Central Valley 46, Anderson 33
After losing a difficult game to West Valley on the road, 65-46, the Cubs hosted the Falcons Friday night.
They stared the game strong leading at the end of the first quarter 9-6, but then Central Valley started to get hot and the Cubs were unable to hold them on defense, letting the Falcons score 15 points, while they were held to six.
Rebounding was a struggle for Big Blue, and so was hitting the basket. They ended the third quarter scoring just six points to Central Valley's 12. Then in the fourth quarter the Cubs started to find themselves, hitting 12 points, but their come back was too late as the Falcons added another 13 to their side of the board.
Anderson (1-7 NAL, 7-17) hosted Lassen on Tuesday and will travel to Yreka on Friday to take on the Miners at 7:30 p.m.
West Valley 61, Lassen 48
After defeating the Cubs at home Tuesday night, the Eagles traveled to Lassen to take on the Grizzlies in "the cave."
West Valley made quick work of Lassen leading early on. Going into the half, the Eagles lead 42-17.
Strong shooting offensively, especially hitting their three-pointers, and rebounding really helped West Valley.
In the end the Grizzlies were unable to come back from behind, as they were over powered by the Eagles.
Tyler Stevenson was the leading scorer for West Valley, netting 30 points, Garrett Phelps put up 13 points.
The Eagles (5-3 NAL, 12-12) hosted Yreka on Tuesday and will host Corning on Friday. Game starts at 7:30 p.m.
