Districts seeking administrators

In the Cascade school district they have received 23 applications for the superintendent position, while Anderson Union High School District placed their ad looking for a new principal this week.

According to John Almond, the interim superintendent for Cascade, the board met in closed session toward the end of last week to decide which of the applicants to interview and what process they want to use to pick the new superintendent.

Almond said he was very excited by the quality of the applicants, adding that they "drew some very high-quality people" and that board members had come in individually to "paper screen" the applicants.

Cascade is hoping to hire someone within the next few months. Up on the hill, Anderson has just started the process to find a principal for West Valley High School, due to the retirement of the school's current principal Karl Stemmler.

According to Tim Azevedo, superintendent for Anderson Union High School District, an ad for the principal position started this week and the job will close in three-and-a-half weeks.

Azevedo said the plan is to name someone by the first week of April and he feels they will get some good quality applicants.

"It's a good job and a good school. Karl (Stemmler) has done an amazing job of running the school, especially with the staff," said Azevedo.
