Anderson girls basketball wins at home; Cub boys lose to Lassen

The Lady Cubs battled with Lassen until the very end when they held off the Grizzles for a 50-41 victory.

Anderson led by five points coming out of the half and Lassen chipped away at their lead numerous times, getting within two points of the Lady Cubs, but Anderson would hit a few baskets once again giving them a little cushion.

Towards the end of the game, the Lady Cubs had worn down the Grizzles enough pad their lead for the win. Emily English led the Cubs (3-1 NAL, 12-8 overall) in scoring with 14 points; Megan Leitem and Carlyn Edwards each scored 12 points.

The Lady Cubs will travel to Yreka to play against the Lady Miners at 7:30 p.m. Friday night.

Anderson boys fall to Lassen

The Anderson boys traveled to battle it out against Lassen. After a close game, in which both sides played hard, the Grizzles would come out on top, winning 56-51.

The last three out of four games Anderson (0-4 NAL, 6-13 overall) has lost by five points or less, and are currently on a four game losing streak. Zach Guibergia had 16 points for the Cubs, teammate Zach Rice added 15 and Jeff Carton 10 points.

The boys will next face Yreka at home on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
