Fireworks show delayed for 40 minutes due to wind

Hundreds gathered to see the races and fireworks held Saturday night for Anderson Explodes.

There was plenty of action on the racetrack keeping the masses entertained. Several drivers lost control of their cars and for some it ended their night.

Josh Dorman won the Les Schwabb Bomber class and Chad Nickles won the BCRA Midget s race.

Once racing was finished it was announced that there had been two test shots done with the fireworks to see which direction the wind would take the debris and if it would be safe to set them off. During the delay Emily Ball, winner of the Anderson Explodes anthem contest, sang the national anthem and Wally Herger, who flew in from Washington D.C., also said a few words.

After the fourth test shot, the Fire Marshal gave permission to start the show and Anderson Explodes was underway at 10:48 p.m. The 15 minute firework display was a spectacular finish to the evening.
