The Anderson farmers market opened Thursday in the Shasta District Fair ground parking lot with four booths, two of which offered fresh produce. Several farmers promised to come but did not show, according to market manager Myron Kreger.
Kreger added that the cool spring weather has made the ground too cold for warm weather crops, like tomatoes, to ripen.
The market opens every Thursday from 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. through September at the Shasta District Fair parking lot, 1890 Briggs St., in Anderson. The market will close on June 16 due to the Shasta District Fair.
