I am adamantly opposed to tax increases of any kind and will fight hard to stop them dead in their tracks. It's not a question of not being taxed enough, but rather a matter of spending more than we can afford. It's that simple.
Americans for Tax Reform was formed in 1985 at the request of President Ronald Reagan. The group's flagship project is the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, a written promise by legislators and candidates for office that commits them to oppose any effort to increase income taxes on individuals and businesses.
The group believes in a system in which taxes are simpler, flatter, more visible and lower than they are today. The government's power to control one's life derives from its power to tax. We believe that power should be minimized.
The real solution is for our government to immediately stop the out-of-control spending spree it's been on under both Republican and Democrat administrations. Not a single penny more (should be) added to our national debt!
No more TARP bail-outs. No more Cash for Clunkers. No more stimulus packages. No more unfunded entitlements like Medicare Part D Prescription Drugs. It's simply unconscionable that we have the audacity to saddle future generations with mountains of our debt.
Sincerely, Col. Pete Stiglich, U.S. Air Force (retired)

Editor;
As an introduction, I am Robert Modin, President of the Anderson Police Officers' Association (APOA). The goals of the APOA include supporting community events. On April 10, 2010, the Shasta Women's Refuge will hold their annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, the International Men's March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Gender Violence.
The Anderson Police Officers' Association identifies this as an extremely important message, as our members are generally the first on scene with these types of crimes. We see the victims and the immediate pain they are feeling. We maintain contact with the victims from the initial report through the investigation and into the prosecution.
The APOA challenges the chief executives of the Anderson Police Department and the Anderson Fire Protection District to also become involved in this worthwhile endeavor. This would show the community there is united support from the two first responder agencies in the city of Anderson, as well as individual police officers. Members of the Anderson Police Officers' Association will be attending the event in support.
I will be starting my search for heels to fit my men's size 12 feet.
Sincerely,
Robert Modin, President
Anderson Police Officers' Association
