Fire district cancels Tuesday meeting

The Anderson Fire Protection District canceled a special meeting scheduled for March 2, at 4:30 p.m. The only item on the agenda was a closed session item regarding "public employee discipline/dismissal/release," according to the district's agenda, which was faxed to the Valley Post yesterday before 3 p.m.

District legal counsel advised the fire district to cancel the meeting, Fire Chief Andy Nichols said, adding that needed information relating to a personnel issue was not gathered in time.

"A union representative was not able to show up," according to fire board member Jeff Hogue in a phone interview Tuesday afternoon.

Nichols said no date was given to continue the closed session item. The district's next regular board meeting is scheduled for March 9 at 6 p.m.
