Anderson couple arrested on drug charges; child, 8 months, in protective custody

Representatives of at least three law enforcement agencies conducting a routine parole compliance check Wednesday, March 3, converged on an Anderson residence shortly after 2 p.m. where they found and later arrested two people, Eric Lee Cooley, 43, and Kelli Tolle, 23, both of Anderson on a variety of drug charges including possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.

The presence of an 8-month-old male child in the woman's arms and in the same area as the controlled substances prompted Children Family Services to take the youngster into protective custody and added child endangerment charges to both suspects, Redding Police Sgt. Jeff Wallace wrote in a press statement released late Friday afternoon, March 5.

Members of Redding Police Department's Investigative Division were working with agents from a special services unit of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and Red Bluff parole office to check on the whereabouts of Cooley, who resides on Lloyd Lane in Anderson.

Upon their arrival at the residence, they found Cooley in possession of a glass pipe and 1.3 grams of methamphetamine. Another 831 grams of marijuana were located in the residence as well. Both types of controlled substance were easily accessible to the child, Sgt. Wallace's report states.

Miscellaneous drug paraphernalia was also located strewn about the residence.

Both Cooley and Tolle admitted to using methamphetamine and additionally stated that neither had a medical recommendation to possess marijuana, according to Wallace's report.

Cooley and Tolle were each transported to Shasta County Jail.

Cooley was booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, child endangerment and parole violation.

Tolle was booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, child endangerment and violation of probation.
