Clarizio's Antipasti and Deli

An Anderson husband and wife team plan to open an authentic-style Italian deli in Anderson by June 2010, but the plans could be derailed if a beer and wine permit can't be secured, Fred Clarizio said last week.

The proposed restaurant will feature many of the recipes Clarizio learned from his father, involving various Italian cheeses and family sausage recipes..

As of last week, construction plans on the empty building at 2766 East St. were still in plan check with the City of Anderson Planning Department. With more than 30 years in the construction business, Fred Clarizio said he grew up working in his parent's Italian deli in La Habra, near Los Angeles.

Los Amigos Meat Market

A grocery market with cuts of meat special for barbecuing may open this spring in the Gateway Center on Gateway Drive. The prospective business owner, Jesus Bautista, already operates one such business in Red Bluff, he said.

The market's specialty will include carne asada beef and chicken prepared for at-home grilling.

Bautista said he wants to open the Anderson location to save driving time for his customers traveling to his Red Bluff location from Shasta County. At press time, Bautista was still seeking a building permit for the business venture.
