PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT: Local high school students played against teams from as far as Yreka at the Sun Oaks tournament.
The boys tennis team at West Valley High School began their tennis season by participating in a tennis tournament at Sun Oaks Tennis Club in Redding,
According to Tom Wyrick, the boys tennis coach at West Valley, the tournament was more for fun than any sort of score or victory.
With the rainy weather the north state received last week canceling a few tennis matches, this tournament was a great way for the Eagles team to practice against other players and see what needs improvement before the season gets underway.
Should the weather cooperate this week, West Valley will play Mercy, Corning, Oroville and Anderson.
