Hearing postponed for Anderson fire captain

A captain with the Anderson Fire Protection District who is accused of forgery and embezzlement was back in Shasta County Superior Court on March 10, but his preliminary hearing was postponed until April 8.

The hearing for Jason Taylor Bellinger, 36, was continued until next month to give his defense attorney time to review case audiotapes and other materials, Deputy District Attorney Erin Dervin said.

Bellinger, who is charged with one felony count of forgery and a single misdemeanor embezzlement count, was arrested in December on suspicion of embezzling $350 from the volunteer firefighter association’s fundraising account.

Bellinger, who is on paid administrative leave, has pleaded not guilty.
