The Anderson Fire Protection District concluded a closed-session hearing March 18 with legal counsel vaguely remarking that Fire Captain Jason Bellinger still has choices to make regarding the disciplinary action against him.
“(Bellinger still has) administrative remedies available to him,” district counsel Mike Fitzpatrick said.
Without elaborating on what the disciplinary hearings were about, what the discipline might have been or what Bellinger's choices were, Fitzpatrick said “the decision made by the board is not required to be made in open session.”
The disciplinary hearing spanned three separate closed-session meetings.
Bellinger remains on disability pay since it was first reported by the district on Nov. 10, 2009, and he faces a preliminary hearing April 8 for charges of felony forgery and misdemeanor embezzlement of funds of the volunteer fire fighter organization. Bellinger has pleaded not guilty.
