EMERGENCY RESPONSE: Traffic accident victim Rebekah Thorn of Anderson sits still as a paramedic helps her keep her neck from moving on Tuesday afternoon, May 18.

The drivers of both vehicles involved in a traffic collision on Highway 273 were transported to Mercy Medical Center on Tuesday complaining of neck and back pain. The accident occurred at about 3:40 p.m. when a yellow Chevy truck driven northbound on Hwy. 273 by Shasta County resident Karen Hartung, 54, struck the side of a silver Hyundai sedan turning from Briggs St. into the northbound lane of Hwy. 273. The driver of the silver vehicle was identified as Rebekah Thorn of Anderson.

The passenger-side door of the silver Hyundai was damaged.

A minor female in the yellow Chevy did not complain of any injuries.

Anderson Police officers investigating the accident said they suspect that one of the vehicles drove through the intersection illegally during a red light, however the investigation was ongoing as of 4:30 p.m.
