Runaway van strikes mobile home

The van of a neighborhood handyman went out of gear, rolled downhill and struck the corner of a mobile home north of Anderson in the Shady Hill Mobile Home Park Monday, Oct. 25, at about 4 p.m. residents said. The collision tore open the outside corner of the mobile home, and on the inside of the home a stove and cabinets were knocked forward about six inches.

Two framed pictures had fallen from the wall, and Milton Glazzard, who was inside the home during the collision, said he felt the whole home move.

"I'm still shaking," Glazzard said.

While the manager of the park called the accident a hit and run, Glazzard said the man only left in order to get some tools to help Glazzard fix his home.

"I feel bad for him and me both," Glazzard said. "I just bought (the mobile home) four months ago."

California Highway Patrolman Tim Larios responded to the scene, but said the incident was not a hit and run if it occurs on private property and Glazzard expects him back.
