Accident slows traffic on Hwy 273

A two-vehicle traffic accident at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, slowed traffic for over a half hour on Highway 273 in Anderson. Driving a silver Scion southbound, Anderson resident Erma Ferguson, 88, failed to stop at a red light at Spring Gulch Road and broad-sided a flat bed pickup driven by Don Hawkins, 51, of Anderson, according to Anderson Police Sergeant Robert Curato, who relayed witness reports.

The Scion, seriously damaged, caused minor damage to the truck, owned by American Metals in Redding.

Ferguson complained of chest pain and was transported to Mercy Medical Center.
