Stabbing suspect also a defendant in trial of abuse of ‘Christmas Boy'

A Redding man suspected of stabbing another man at a Rhonda Road residence in Anderson in the early-morning hours of Monday, Sept. 20, was arrested Thursday, Sept. 23, at the Shasta County Superior Court security station, District Attorney Jerry Benito confirmed on Friday, as the suspect attempted to show up for a hearing on a high-profile child abuse case first reported in December.

Gregory Matthew Limon, 22, was arrested and charged with the stabbing of Raul Ibarra Lopez, 32, aka Alfonso Flores, according to a Shasta County Sheriff's Office report by Sergeant Jim Beaupre. The stabbing was initially reported at about 4 a.m. on Sept. 20 at 4604 Rhonda Road.

Also a defendant in a high-profile child abuse case with his sister Rachel Limon, Gregory Limon was charged in March with child abuse, being an accessory and obstructing or delaying an officer, according to an article by the Record Searchlight. The child has since become known as the Christmas Boy by local women raising funds for him.

According to a Beaupre, Limon was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and committing a felony while out on bail. Limon was released from jail after his $50,000 bail was posted. The case will be handed over to the district attorney for review, Beaupre said.

Lopez was placed in Shasta County Jail on Sept. 22 without bail, as he was wanted by U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, according to Beaupre's report.
