At the Anderson Union High School District’s November board, it was mentioned that Anderson High would be getting some new features to their security system.
According to Principal Scott Booth, when the high school put in their previous security system the software that came with the setup was bulky and hard to use.
“Our tech guys would call the company because the cameras wouldn’t be functioning like we were told they would. They company would have a list of adjustments to make to the cameras and our guys would go out and make them, but we still weren’t getting the quality we thought we should be getting, based on what the company sold us,” said Booth.
AT the board meeting Tony Baldwin, head of the district’s technology, explained to the board that after talking with the company and explaining that their product was under-performing and didn’t meet expectations, the district was able to work out a $22,000 refund and keep the parts of the system that were working.
“We switched to a different system and we get better coverage from the camera and the software is easier to use. In tech terms, the new system isn’t clogging up our servers,” explained Booth.
Booth said at the meeting the way Baldwin explained the problems with the security systems made it sound like the system wasn’t working, when in reality it was, just not the way it was expected to.
He added that the tech team is currently adding more cameras to the system and that the new software from a different security company has been installed, giving the high school better coverage and better camera quality.
