Arcata was too much for the Anderson High School girls basketball team Saturday. The Tigers took first in the Anderson Tip-Off Classic, beating the host 50-30.
The Cubs were never able to settle into any kid of rhythm, as Arcata ran over them with defense, the Cubs were cold on offense.
For the Cubs, Emily English nabbed nine points, Katie Nunnelley had eight, Fallon Greenhaw managed six.
Anderson beat Foothill 59-49 on Friday behind freshman Nunnelley’s 24-point effort to make it into the title game. The Cubs beat Trinity on Thursday.
Anderson competes in the Harlan Carter Invitational tournament at Enterprise on Thursday.
The Cubs play Shasta at 8:30 p.m.
Foothill 44, West Valley 30
After beating U-Prep 56-35 on Thursday’s opening game in the Anderson Tip-Off Classic, West Valley then lost the next two games to finish fourth.
The Eagles fell to Arcata 56-29 during Friday night’s game and competed against the Cougars in the third place game on Saturday.
The first half of the game was fairly evenly matched, but Foothill pulled it together in the second half for the win.
Paige Burson led the Eagles in scoring with nine points.
West Valley plays Enterprise at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Harlan Carter Invitational tournament at Enterprise High School’s Manatowa Gymnasium.
