Women’s Club seeks business sponsors

Barbara Caldwell, president of the Anderson Women’s Club, is inviting the business community to participate in the club’s many service projects with a sponsorship of $36 per year.

Projects include, but are not limited to, scholarships, Anderson-Cottonwood Christian Assistance Food Bank, Anderson Public Library, conservation, international, military and more as the need arises.

Sponsoring business will be listed in the group’s monthly reminder sent out nine months of the year.

When fund-raising for a project in which the sponsoring business has a special interest, the name of each such sponsoring business will also be mentioned in all advertising. One example is the California Federation of Women’s Club’s fourth District Convention, set for Anderson on April 21, during which the local chapter expects to host an additional 30 to 40 out-of-town visitors, Caldwell said.

The Anderson Women’s Club was organized April 28, 1912, and was Federated with the California Federation of Women’s Club in 1916.

During the past 99 years, the local club has helped raise funds for the Anderson Union High School, Anderson Public Library, Anderson River Park, street lights, the community Christmas tree, Anderson Fire Protection District, planting trees, purchasing blue street markers for fire hydrants and responded to requests from the armed services during World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam and so on.

“These are just a few of the things we have done,” Caldwell said, noting that “Red Bluff Interiors is our first business sponsor, with a special interest in scholarships.”
