March winds roar like a lion

The calendar says that it is spring, but the clouds, rain, mud, cold and winds roar.

“Not yet, April is still two days away and I’m not through blowing yet!” the wind howls.

What did you expect? It’s March.

We tell the dogs, “Everybody out. Go do your duties.”

They move to the door without their usual enthusiasm, hesitate as if they are reluctant to face the rain-laden gusts of wind that hits as they pass a corner of the house.

A strong order, “Go, go do duty” urges them on.

My Toy Fox Terriers — Little Bitty, Twinkle and Baby Girl — are tiny so they run easily to shelter under a parked car where they tend to their jobs. Done, they wait for an open door inviting them to come back inside where my warm lap awaits them.

Cold, blustery March weather is not appreciated by my darlings, but they’re good little girls.

Not appreciated?

Hah! March weather is appreciated even less by our big two-year-old Doberman Pinscher Ezekius. He needs to go out as well, but according to his actions, he has too much sense to go out into rain driven by high winds.

Even his favorite activities won’t entice him out into the rain.

He ignores his evening walk and remains listless even when Jim picks up his laser light to entice him to play his very favorite game, “Chase the light.”

It is obvious that he believes nobody but a fool would go out into blowing, pouring rain when a comfortable LazyBoy chair awaits him indoors.
