Ready or not, the holiday season is rapidly approaching with plenty of community events to mark on your already busy calendars.
Saturday, many South County veterans, their families, elected officials and veterans boosters will head to the City of Shasta Lake for a 10 a.m. Veterans Day Parade.
Before retiring Saturday night, don’t forget to turn back your clocks and time pieces by one hour as we official mark the end of Daylight Savings Time for 2011.
The extra hour of sleep will be appreciated, especially by Anderson’s volunteer firefighters and their families, along with community members heading up to Shingletown for the annual Christmas tree cutting on Sunday, Nov. 6.
That group will gather at the Frontier Senior Center for a hearty breakfast that will be served to the rest of the community for most of Sunday morning by a group of dedicated volunteers who feed more than 120 patrons.
A $5 donation buys breakfast on the first Sunday of each month with all proceeds going to pay the senior center’s utility bills.
Starting Tuesday, Nov. 8, through Saturday, Nov. 12, don’t forget to attend a performance of “Once Upon a Mattress” at the Anderson Union High School. This is a joint effort of the drama and music departments at West Valley High School and Anderson Union High.
