Business sponsors 3rd annual food donation drive

Frontier Senior Center and the Anderson-Cottonwood Christian Assistance’s food bank are two South County programs that will benefit from Cleanrite-Buildrite’s third annual “Stuff the Truck” donation day.

Donations of non-perishable canned, boxed or bagged food items will be collected from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, in the Anderson Safeway parking lot.

“Our ‘Stuff the Truck’ food drive is to provide families in need (with) a wonderful meal this Thanksgiving holiday,” said Angie Hawkins, organizer of the event.

Keeping Thanksgiving in mind, food items most needed include gravy mixes, soup, stuffing mix, fruit or vegetable juices, butter, instant potatoes and canned vegetables, especially cranberries, green beans, yams and corn, Hawkins noted.

Gift cards and personal hygiene items are also being accepted, she added.

The food drive is also seeking donations of fresh or frozen turkeys, hams, dinner rolls and tubs or cubes of butter.
