Anderson hosted the 16th annual Nor Cal wresting championships over the weekend. Fifty-two teams from three states joined the action, giving grapplers the chance to prove themselves.

Orland won the team title for a second year in a row with 285.5 points and Chico finished second with 236.5 points.

West Valley finished 13th with 122 points and Anderson took 15th with 107.5 out of the 49 teams who competed.

In the 220-pound weight class all eyes were on West Valley senior Austin Lobsinger, and he didn’t disappoint.

In his five matches, Lobsinger managed to pin every one of his opponents, including R.J. Hellmann of Will C. Wood of Vacavile in the final in 1:05.

Scott Nelson, another West Valley heavyweight, brought home the 285-pound title. Nelson squeaked past Garrett Southam of Durham 3-2 to finish the tournament.

For Anderson, Spencer Larsen made it to the final in the 138-pound weight class. However, Chester’s John Leal put up two takedowns against Larsen in the first period. The Cub grappler trailed 10-4 going into the third period, and he could close the deficit, falling to Leal 12-6.
