Michele Boylson Erickson
Michele Boylson Erickson of Redding died Wed., Jan. 4, 2012, after a 20-year battle with breast cancer. She was 62. Erickson is survived by husband David Erickson; daughter Erin Kegley, son-in-law Jacob Kegley and granddaughter Micah Kegley, all of Redding. Erickson also leaves sister Patricia Moran and brother-in-law Steve Moran of Citrus Heights; father Michael Boylson of Mokelumne Hill, CA; stepsons Mark and Jon Erickson, and their families, all of the Sacramento area. Born on December 6, 1949, in Long Beach, CA, Erickson earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree in history from Chico State University, Chico. Her early employment years were spent in banking, and later as a Shasta College history instructor. Erickson dedicated the remainder of her work life to the non-profit world, where her last position was as the Deputy Director of Shasta County Child Abuse Prevention Coordinating Council; through which she was instrumental in the creation of the Anderson Teen Center.
A celebration of Erickson’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 21 at the Anderson Teen Center, 2889 East Center St. in Anderson. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Erickson’s name to the Anderson Teen Center. Contributions may be mailed to the Anderson Teen Center in care of The Child Abuse Prevention Coordinating Council of Shasta County, 2280 Benton Dr. Building C, Suite B, Redding, CA 96003.

George Lee Bragg
George Lee Bragg, lifelong resident of Shasta County, died unexpectedly on the morning of Friday, January 6th. Born in Artesia, California, George and his parents moved to Anderson when he was a small child. He attended local grade schools and graduated from Anderson High School. George served with distinction in the US Marine Corps from 1969 to 1975, returning to his home town to work with his father in their local pump business. After graduating, with honors, from the Redwoods Center Police Academy in 1991, George served as a member of law enforcement with the Shasta County Marshal’s Office and the Shasta County Sheriff’s Department, retiring in July, 2011 with 23 years of service. “Gentleman” George Bragg was a beloved and respected short-track race car driver for over 30 years on the Shasta Speedway racetrack, where he still holds many track records, and throughout the west coast area.
Memorial donations may be made to the Good News Rescue Mission, PO Box 991626, Redding, CA 96099, or to another community service charity.
