The library is a magical place where, between the pages of a book, you can explore new lands or meet new friends or pretend to be anything you want to be.

Such was the case last week at the Cottonwood Community Library when the children in attendance got to meet up close and personal with Cookie Monster of Sesame Street fame. The children delighted to the books about the sights and tastes and counting aspects of cookies, while anticipation for their special guest was building.

Today, Feb. 1, the theme for Storytime will be “Wild About Books,” where once again the children will be able to think about and explore the exciting adventures that await them inside a book.

Our hope is that we entice the children at a young age to get comfortable with reading and enjoy what they read in the hopes that we can build a reader for life.

Each week a different theme or topic is read and talked about with a follow-up craft or activity to take home.

Storytimes are held each Wednesday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Cottonwood Community Library, 3427 Main St., Cottonwood.
