Max George Giles

Max George Giles was born March 13, 1937, to Ray and Wanda Giles in Cottonwood, CA.

He passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012. Max was a life-long resident of Shasta County and a prominent life-long resident in Anderson, Calif. He went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Anyone who knew Max, knows he had a passionate love for life. He was a master fisherman, hunter and pool shark, well if you asked him, anyway! He is also remembered as the “notorious Anderson Little League announcer” at Volonte Park for many years. A celebration of Max’s life took place open-house style to all who knew and loved him on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at the Frontier Senior Center in Anderson.

Brenda Marjorie Harris

Brenda was born in Redding to Joe and Betty Heflin On Dec. 16, 1954. She attended Redding Schools Including Shasta High School. She married the love of Her life and soul mate, Harvey, on May 17, 1972 at the Church of the Nazarene in Eureka, CA. After Moving to Anderson, CA she worked for Anderson HeadStart for 20 years as an aide and bus driver. She was very involved with the Redding Umpire Scheduling Activities, ran the Snack bar for the Shasta Girls Fastpitch League and was ardently Instrumental in the Anderson Little League during The 1980’s. In lieu of Flowers the family requests donations be sent to Haven Humane Society.

Mildred (“Millie”) A. Beatie

Mildred (“Millie”) A. Beatie, owner of Millie’s Pottery, passed quietly in her home on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at the age of 68. Born September 19, 1943, in Anderson, CA, Millie was passionate about her pottery, her faith, and her family and friends. As a 1961 graduate of Anderson High School, Millie was thrilled to be recently reunited with many lifelong friends at her 50th High School Reunion in August. Millie was a well respected insurance claims adjuster for more than 30 years, as a Litigation Manager with USAA, a multi-line adjuster with Elite Investigations, and most recently as an investigator at Koning & Associates.

She prided herself in rolling up her sleeves and being able to solve problems. Pottery was her true passion. Each piece was created as a functional piece of art to be both utilized and treasured for generations. She loved making pottery, and found true joy in both learning and educating others about the art.

Donald L. Flynn

Donald L. Flynn, 77, of Cottonwood, died Sunday, January 22, 2012, at Shasta Regional Medical Center in Redding. He was born in Medford, OR, and grew up in Burney, CA. He was a Veteran of Korea (Army) and Viet Nam (Navy). He retired as a truck driver, and then worked for Golden State Foot Clinic. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Anderson, CA, Cottonwood Ward. Don was a kind and caring man to all he knew. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping with his family.
