An alleged “intoxicated and disoriented” pedestrian was struck by the mirror of a passing motorist’s truck on Saturday, Jan. 28. In a press release issued by the Anderson Police Department (APD), Jacqueline Pena, 19, of Gilroy, staggered onto Highway 273 just south of Briggs Street where she was stuck by the passenger side mirror of a Chevrolet truck.
APD Officer Regina Collier’s initial investigation revealed that the driver of the truck, Kevin Clay, 44, of Cottonwood, was able to veer his truck into the number one lane which prevented a full-force impact.
According to the press release, Pena walked away from the scene of the accident. She was contacted by police a short time later near East and North Street. She had visible, minor injuries.
“Pena was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center due to the unknown extent of injuries,” reported Collier.
APD is asking that anyone with information regarding this case to please call Officer Collier at 378-6600.
