Mary’s Pizza Shack in Anderson is teaming up with The Shasta Women’s Refuge for “Pizza and Pumps,” a pre-event that will benefit the refuge, on Saturday, March 24.

The event is dubbed “a playful opportunity” for men to raise awareness in their community about the serious causes, effects and remediations to sexualized violence. Expect to see plenty of males … most in high heels.

Families are encouraged to attend and enjoy the live band (all day), celebrity pizza making contest, fashion show, shoe auction, pizza eating contest, wine tasting, bounce houses, petting zoo, face painting, great food and more.

Despite a forecast for rain, the Pizza and Pumps event scheduled for Saturday is still a go, announced Mike Burke of the Shasta Family Justice Center.

"We have moved the event indoors and it will take place in a 9,000-square-foot space next to Payless Shoe Source at the south end of the Shasta Outlets," Burke said Thursday.

"Please help the Shasta Women's Refuge and Mary's Pizza Shack spread the word that this event will be a great rainy day activity for the whole family," he added.

Youth activities will include: The Bambino Shack where kids make their own pizza, a bounce house, face painting, a limited petting zoo and more.

Adults will enjoy the pizza making contest, live bands all day, wine tasting, great food, a BloodSource blood drive and the chance to win a $200 golf package by winning our pizza eating contest.
