Judge: Mark Duenas to stand trial for wife's murder

A Shasta County Superior Court judge today ordered a Cottonwood man accused of killing his wife to stand trial on a murder charge.

Mark Gilbert Duenas, 52, will be back in court Nov. 7 to set a trial date.

He was arrested Oct. 5 in connection with the death of Karen Duenas, 51.

Her body was found May 5 in the bedroom of their Cottonwood home.

Mark Duenas, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, remains in Shasta County jail in lieu of $1 million bail.
