Anderson restaurateur Fred A. Clarizio, 62, a resident of Happy Valley, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
Born in 1951, Clarizio grew up working in his parent’s Italian deli in LaHabra, near Los Angeles.
He then spent more than 30 years in the construction industry, a career often interspersed with travel throughout the country as a musician.
Fred and Patricia Clarizio – family and close friends call her Sam – eventually moved to Shasta County and opened Clarizio’s Antipasti and Deli at 2766 East St. in Anderson on Valentine’s Day 2011.
A framed photo of Vincent Clarizio cutting fresh sausage hangs on a wall in the restaurant as a tribute to Fred’s father.
During luncheon and dinner service at the restaurant, when the work pace slowed, Clarizio often would pop out of the sandwich preparation area with his accordion to serenade patrons, especially those celebrating special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries and such.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Allen Dahl Funeral Chapel in Palo Cedro.
