Anderson man killed by train

An Anderson man that was killed by a Union Pacific train Friday night has been identified.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased body as 35-year-old Paul Sullivan, a press release said. Sullivan was struck by the train about a quarter-mile south of South Street in Anderson.

Union Pacific reported the incident to authorities around 8:50 p.m., deputies said.

"It looked as if he was on his hands and knees and then was hit on his head by the train," Anderson Police Sgt. Sean Miller said.

The death is still being investigated.
