Cottonwood to host Town Hall meeting on public safety

Working in partnership with Cottonwood Community Center, Shasta County Supervisor Les Baugh will co-host a Town Hall meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, on public safety.

Guest panelists include Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko and Tehama County Sheriff Dave Hencratt, said Mary O’Keeffe, director of the community center.

The onset of court-mandated prison realignment statewide (also known as AB109), has resulted in a spike of crime that has increased public awareness and concerns of safety regarding persons and property, O’Keeffe said.

Both sheriffs are expected to offer practical advice for business owners and residents, she noted.

“Bringing these two county sheriffs together in a single venue provides a unique opportunity to get answers directly from the source,” Baugh said.

Questions for the two sheriffs should be submitted in advance at the community center, 20595 Gas Point Road in Cottonwood, by phone at 347-1230 or by email to

“We expect a full house for this timely presentation and will do our best to answer as many questions as possible. I suggest submitting questions early,” O’Keeffe said.

Supervisor Baugh will moderate the discussion and light refreshments will be served, she noted.
