Officers from the Anderson Police Department went to a Lodgepole Avenue residence Saturday evening, Oct. 4, while responding to reports of an intoxicated man shooting a firearm.
The officers arrived at 6:46 p.m. and found Joseph Vultaggio, 24, of Anderson attempting to jump a fence into the back yard of the property, reported Officer Mathew Goodwin. Full story »

Police led on high speed chase

Anderson resident Frank Marlin, 43, led Anderson police on a high-speed chase on Olinda Road, at times reaching speeds of 75 mph in a 30 mph zone and coming within feet of other vehicles, until his vehicle exited suddenly onto a steeply graded access road and became airborne late Friday night, Oct. 3, states an Anderson Police Department report filed early Saturday. A former Anderson resident accused of murdering his 10-week-old son in 1993 admitted to detectives this month that he dropped the infant, slapped him on the back of the head and then "tossed" him to the ground because he was frustrated by his crying, a police investigative report reveals. APD arrest father for tot's 1993 death

The Anderson Police Department wrapped-up a 15-year-old cold case last week when they secured an arrest warrant on Sept. 17 for James Lee Copeland, 39, for the alleged murder of his 10-week-old son in 1993.
On Dec. 3, 1993, suspect James Copeland called 911 from his residence at 1720 North St. in Anderson, where he lived with Lori Kay Kaphamer, now 47. He reported that their son, Kevin Lee Copeland had stopped breathing. Full story »

Anderson police were called to Balls Ferry Road and Stingy Lane early Saturday morning after someone reported a traffic accident.
