There was a lot to celebrate during West Valley's homecoming game on Friday night. The Eagles had another huge win in their football game against the Cardinals (41-7). West Valley got off to a smashing start and never looked back during their 36-0 win against Gridley last Friday.
"We had a good ground attack and played good defense like we have been doing," coach Grandell said.

West Valley and Anderson girls take a swing at golf

While many high school girls take part in fall athletics like volleyball and tennis, a handful of girls from Anderson and West Valley are taking a swing at a different sport.

North and East Cottonwood Elementary Schools have abandoned the typical school fundraiser of selling food or candy-bars, and incorporated an innovative and active way to raise money for their student body.
All 379 students jumped to their hearts-content on Thursday, when East Cottonwood held their annual Jumpathon. The children jumped rope, jumped hurdles, jumped over hula-hoops, jumped over painted lines and other jumping-related activities during their school fundraiser designed to get kids active. Anderson skate competition rescheduled

The third and final event in the North State Skate Series competition was canceled due to rain last Saturday.
The event is rescheduled for this Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Anderson skate park in Volante Park. Between 50 and 70 athletes will compete. Prizes will be awarded to the top athlete in each age division at the Anderson event. The top-ranked overall winners will also be announced. Full story »

The West Valley Jr. Eagles traveled to Paradise to face off against the Bobcats on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Before the game, the West Valley and Paradise Pee Wee teams were the only undefeated teams in their division. West Valley arrived with a record of 2-0 division, and 5-0 overall, to face the Pee Wee Bobcats who were 3-0 in the division and 3-2 overall. Full story »

The Eagles shut out the Trojans during their game in Orland on Friday, in a 53-0 blowout.
"We blasted them," coach Grandell said.
Even though the varsity team dominated against Orland, West Valley's junior varisty and freshman teams got beat. Grandell said this is evidence of an up-and-coming team. Full story »

West Valley competes at a carwash for a cause

After beating Orland on Friday, the West Valley Eagles football team and cheerleaders got together to for a little friendly competition against the Central Valley Falcons in a ‘bird bath' carwash on Saturday, Sept. 27.
Athletes from both schools spent their day competing to wash the most cars, and get the most donations. All of the donations will go to Corben Books, a Mt. Shasta football player suffering from a spinal injury. Full story »
